China responded with “resolute opposition” and “strong dissatisfaction” to a new US bill signed into law, which includes a provision that requires NASA and the justice and commerce departments to seek approval from federal law enforcement officials before buying information technology systems from China.  This bill reflects US concern with cyber-espionage from China. US “advanced technology” imports from China are worth US$129 billion, according to a May 2012 report by the USCongressional Research Service.
